It sounds funny, but they provide important information about your health condition
Hippocrates believed that all diseases originate in the intestinal tract.
Therefore, you need to be sure that what comes out of us looks good.
So, three things to pay attention to:
- regularity
- shape
- color

1. Regularity
We recommend relieving yourself once a day. You should feel that your intestinal tract is completely empty.
However, some go to the toilet 2-3 times a day. This may be related to faster metabolism, the amount of good bacteria, or also the amount of food they consume.
If you relieve yourself more than 3 times a day, it is a sign of diarrhea, which we will discuss later.
Some believe that going to the toilet once every couple of days is normal. But I would not agree with this statement. Relieving yourself is the best way to cleanse your body of toxins, acids, and other pollutants, so it is worth doing it every day.
2. Shape
This is just as important, and few will tell you about it.
We need to be sure that our stools have the proper shape. This indicates that our body has processed and absorbed all the nutrients from the food products, and now has cleansed itself of acids and toxins.

Before you is a teaching aid, or the so-called Bristol stool chart:
- separate hard lumps, small balls
- sausage-like, but lumpy
- like sausages, but with cracks on the surface
- sausage-like or snake-like, smooth and soft
- soft blobs with clear-cut edges (pass easily)
- fluffy pieces with ragged edges, a mushy stool
- watery, no solid pieces, entirely liquid
Have you figured out which type is considered a sign of health?
If you chose number 4, congratulations. You are absolutely right!
Ideal excrement passes easily, smells more like overripe fruit rather than something terrible, and you almost don`t need to wipe.
It should also be noted that type 3 is better than types 5 and 6.
Diarrhea is difficult to control and, as usual, is a consequence of serious health problems. Diarrhea can be accompanied by malabsorption, as a result, your body does not receive all the necessary vitamins and minerals.
Diarrhea?
If your stools are soft, mushy, liquid, or too frequent, you can do the following:
First of all, I would talk to your doctor and insist on a stool analysis.
At the same time, to firm up the stools, consume more of the following products: bananas, rice, apples, tea.
These products contain tannins that harden the stools.
You can include one or two tablespoons of psyllium in your diet. It not only firms up the stools but also removes toxins.
Take probiotics, avoid gluten, use wheat or other grains, nuts, sunflower seeds until your intestinal tract is fully regulated.
Hard stools?
If you have hard or irregular stools, you can also discuss with your doctor and insist on an analysis. Also, consider checking thyroid hormone activity.
Adding magnesium to your diet will help.
Fish and other healthy fats, chia seeds, sunflowers, and nuts can improve the process.
Don`t forget about pears: two a day will have a beneficial effect on your intestinal tract.
Yoga and abdominal massage are also very good options.
Castor oil is also popular: apply it to the abdomen with massage movements several times a week.
Another remedy is peppermint oil. Drop one drop into your toilet and sit down. It stimulates intestinal tract activity and often causes defecation.

3. Color
So, we discussed shape, now let`s talk about color. Believe it or not, color also matters a lot!
The golden mean for your process - from milk chocolate color to dark brown.
If your excrement is black - it indicates blood in the stomach and upper intestinal tract.
Yellow and green color stools acquire in cases of fat absorption issues, liver function, or gallbladder disorders.
Drink Swedish bitters, Swedish tincture, hydrochloric acid/pepsin or other digestive enzymes to help the body break down fats.
Remember that if you consume beets, leafy greens, or food colorings, the stool color may change and that is completely normal.
Float or not float?
And finally.... this question will sooner or later appear in the comments “Should your feces float?” A million-dollar question, and experts` opinions differ. Some claim that in the first case it indicates sufficient fiber in the diet. Others believe it is a result of fat absorption disorder. The second option is better - that`s the conclusion. The truth is whichever case makes you feel better.
