Have you thought about how certain household trifles enter our lives? Walking barefoot at home, constantly ventilating rooms, and much more that we dont even pay attention to, considering that these trifles often shock foreigners.

Some of our habits have formed historically, some arose due to peculiarities of mentality, climate changes, and who knows what else. But it is these trifles that distinguish us from other nations, forming a unique cultural layer.

We dont turn off the heating

In most countries, there is no central heating, as even in winter, homeowners try to save and not turn on the heating. But when they leave the house, they definitely turn off the heating. We have long had the habit of heating homes and apartments well, so that even in winter we can walk around the house in shorts.
Waste sorting

Now, of course, we are starting to resemble the rest of the world in this matter, but until now, the majority of the population has a single trash bin where all waste is thrown. But in other European countries, such behavior can result in a fine.
Room ventilation

We love ventilating rooms; even sub-zero temperatures outside dont bother us, the main thing is to have a bit of fresh air in the house. Europeans see in this habit only a waste of heat and electricity, regarding which they are very economical.
Taking off shoes upon entering

Europeans and Americans are outraged by our habit of taking off shoes when entering a house, as they themselves walk in shoes. The thing is that their roads and sidewalks are always clean, and therefore, there is no need to take off dirty shoes when entering the home.
Lack of curtains

We rarely see thick curtains on windows; people prefer to leave the window open or simply hang them with transparent tulle. However, thick curtains can be found on any window in the West, where people cannot fall asleep with the slightest ray of night light.
Superstitions

Of course, we all have our superstitions, but it is with us that they are given great attention. Black cats, spilled salt, whistling indoors, and much more that makes us feel uncomfortable and perform various funny and not so rituals.
Dishwashing

Even dishes we wash differently. We have the habit of washing them under running water, while in Europe, this is considered a terrible waste of water. There, they usually use dishwashers with low water consumption or simply close the sink with a stopper and wash all dishes with the accumulated water.
Windows and bidets

A window in the toilet and a bidet are two things that are rarely found with us. But Europeans dont understand why we dont want to ventilate this room, and the bidet is almost a manic result of saving.
Too much in our lives is determined by the past: bad or good, but all events have left their marks. The same can be said about the citizens of any country, at least those whose history is similar differ the least among themselves.
