Despite the apparent simplicity and understanding, our world remains incredibly diverse and contradictory, sometimes making you doubt if you`re perceiving it correctly: certain things still surprise and even frighten to this day. It`s truly astonishing that in an era of new technologies and space exploration, barbaric traditions still flourish on the planet.

We`re talking about countries where women not only have no rights but also suffer from violence. In some cases, they risk losing their lives. We`ll name the countries where women are not considered humans.

1. Afghanistan

The average life expectancy for women in Afghanistan is only about 45 years. Millions of widows beg to survive. Poverty, war, early marriages, violence from husbands and relatives - that`s how local women live. It has one of the highest maternal mortality rates, with no medical assistance. But not long ago, Afghanistan was a secular state...
2. Democratic Republic of the Congo

”Democratic” is a bit of a stretch. Women here cannot sign any legal document without their husband`s permission, yet they have many duties. Since the country often sees warfare, women can be seen on the front lines, where many perish. AIDS is widespread here, violence thrives, and Congolese people with their children are often left without any help.
3. Nepal

In this country, women have to join partisan units to protect themselves and their homes. Early marriages and births are cultivated here, but the weakened population, constantly starving, doesn`t last long - girls die. Moreover, parents often sell their daughters before they reach adulthood.
4. Mali

This poor country is known for its bloody rituals: girls undergo a painful clitoris removal process. Local women marry quickly, and it`s not their decision. Every tenth girl in Mali dies during pregnancy or childbirth.
5. Pakistan

Women in Pakistan suffer a lot because local customs are extremely dangerous. Angry husbands can throw acid in Pakistani women`s faces, and for infidelity, women can be stoned. Proving innocence is almost impossible, and brothers or fathers become the killers.
6. India

In India, boys are especially valued, so girls are discriminated against from birth: many don`t live to adulthood. Girls are often kidnapped in India to turn them into prostitutes. These numbers are hard to track - the country has 3 million people involved in prostitution, and almost half are children.
7. Somalia

There are no hospitals in Somalia, which means complicated births that can inevitably lead to death: no one can help the woman. Moreover, women are more often raped than married. The torturous circumcision practiced like in Mali only increases mortality, and the overall situation is worsened by famine and dry climate.
8. Iraq

This country is mired in sectarianism - girls can be kidnapped and raped here. All who used to work are now forced to stay home and starve. In 2014, militants killed about 150 women who refused to provide sexual services to the fighters.
9. Chad

In this country, women`s lives are completely dependent on the men they belong to. Girls are married off at 11-12 years old. Those living in the eastern refugee camps are even less fortunate. There, women are subjected to physical violence and rapes, literally followed.
10. Yemen

In this country, women cannot get an education. The reason is simple - they don`t have time. Girls are married off as young as 7, after which they are deprived of any rights. Yemen is trying to address this problem, but so far unsuccessfully.
11. Saudi Arabia

Although Saudi Arabia is a rich and promising country, women face many restrictions here. It is the only place in the world where women are not allowed to drive cars. Women also cannot leave the house without a husband or relative, cannot use public transport, or talk to other men. Women must wear clothing that completely covers the face and body.
12. Guatemala

Another country on this list where women have to fear for their lives. Hundreds are killed here, and no investigation takes place, even if a note with hateful words is found next to the body. Regular rapes and beatings - that`s how women from the lower social strata live.

It`s so strange to learn about all this, especially when in our familiar world, women are not only granted all rights but also hold important state positions, and they are known politicians worldwide. The day will come when women in all corners of the world can live dignified lives.
