Perhaps abandoned houses and the stories surrounding their abandonment appeal to you too... There are people who not only enjoy the charm of abandoned houses, but they seek out such houses to give them a second life or to restore them. This activity is a modern hobby, more widely known as `urban explorers`.
Leslie Davidson is one of these urban explorers, and she is also a photographer. Last year, when the woman discovered another house, inside it she saw much more than she could have imagined...
Continuation of the article
`Meet Lawrence. He lives in a house I thought was abandoned. The area around the house was completely overgrown, the roof was leaking, the old house interior literally screamed that no one had been in the house for a long time. I met him in the living room.` - says Leslie.
She continues: `Lawrence spends most of his time within four walls. He is a loner... The man is blind in one eye, and the other eye has a cataract. Although I didn`t know the man, he was very kind, polite, and allowed me to take several photos. He has a great soul. I will visit him more than once. By publishing his photos, I hope that relatives or those people who were supposed to take care of Lawrence will remember him. Many elderly people are cheerful, and I was glad to meet Lawrence.`
`We just had a nice chat and laughed. I was lucky to hear many interesting stories from his life, about his successes and misfortunes. Meeting this person was the best experience of my life. This outstanding person managed to touch me to the depths of my heart.`
`I brought Lawrence some food, took out the trash, and fixed some broken things. The owner told me that a couple of weeks ago he had a stroke, after which he couldn`t move his arms. Only after a couple of days did he go to the doctor. That was one of those interesting stories from Lawrence that I heard from him that day. He simply needs a friend... A person who would take care of him.`
`From time to time, I go to visit Lawrence. I`m glad to have such a friend.`
Maybe there`s a lonely elderly person living in your neighborhood too. Sooner or later, we will all end up in their place. Stop by the store, buy some cookies, tea, and go visit the lonely neighbor. Good deeds travel far.
