Finding a corpse is one of the most shocking things a person can experience. Yet, if the job requires it, someone might study corpses every day. Some people feel uncomfortable, but imagine the work of experts and morgue workers. These people quickly get used to death.
Such job adaptation allows a forensic expert to talk about a horrific murder scene without batting an eye or showing various emotions.
However, even when you think you`ve seen everything in life, there`s something that can surprise you. In this article, the relatives of the "heroes" told us about their loved ones` strange deaths.
We`ll mention 12 of the strangest deaths.
Continuation of the article
1. Man who died from uterine cancer
When 37-year-old Vincent Liu received a kidney transplant in February 2002, doctors didn`t know the donor had cancer. The donor`s cancer was in her uterus, so the doctor said the disease couldn`t affect the man.
But when Liu died in September 2002, cancer specialist Robert Gelfand concluded that the man had uterine cancer, despite not having a uterus at all.
2. 20-year-old ”soccer” hernia
When Maniac Moxie worked at a funeral home, he encountered a person who developed a serious hernia over 20 years.
At the time of the man`s death, a ”swelling” the size of a soccer ball appeared on his groin. The case was so serious that the forensic expert turned to a colleague and simply said: ”Hey, dude, look at this!”
3. Light bulb
In the emergency room, bleeding seemed to be caused by a stab wound. But when doctors treated the scar, they noticed the man continued bleeding from the back.
When they turned the man onto his stomach, they found that the attacker had inserted a light bulb into his anus before stabbing him. Removing such an object is especially difficult, and after the procedure, the man died from septic shock.
4. Wine enema
There have been cases in the past where people died from wine enemas, but usually from alcohol poisoning. This deceased showed no signs of alcoholism; he was killed by a red wine enema.
Instead, he bled out because the sharp tip of the enema punctured his rectum.
5. Man with too much iron in his body
At first glance, everything seems very simple. A man in his late 50s, after several illnesses, died on the couch. Heart attack, right?
But no one knew that this man actually suffered from hemochromatosis - a rare disease that causes you to absorb too much iron during eating. In this man`s case, the large amount of iron destroyed his liver and caused varicose vein expansion in his esophagus. When these veins burst, the man started internal bleeding, and ultimately, he died.
And all this time, he probably thought he just had stomach issues.
6. Horrific hanging
It`s hard to express feelings when you see a person who died by suicide. However, in rare cases, the scene can be more horrific when you see a severed head.
This phenomenon usually occurs from a long drop and if a stiff rope is used. That`s exactly what happened in one person`s case, who hanged himself from his apartment balcony. His body hit the ground. However, the forensic expert had to ask this person`s neighbors if the victim`s head was on their balcony?
7. Straining danger
If you have a healthy cardiovascular system and you strain while sitting on the toilet, it can cause unpleasant consequences, but it won`t kill you. However, if you have heart problems, straining can endanger the heart.
Look what happened to one elderly person. A Reddit user describes it very clearly: ”He pushed too hard, blood pressure dropped, and that`s it...”
8. Welder`s urine
Even when things go as they should, welding work can be unhealthy because some metals can easily enter the welder`s body. But metals in the bladder are a recipe for disaster, as when mixed with urine, the hot metal remains harmful.
In specific work circumstances, one welder died when metal droplets entered his bladder.
9. Toxic Lady
When Gloria Ramirez died at Riverside Hospital, the staff trying to revive her noticed that after using the defibrillator, her body emitted a strange garlic smell and an oily sheen. Then, one after another, the medical staff fell ill, many losing consciousness. Their illness was apparently caused by exposure to Ramirez`s body and blood, hence the name - ”toxic lady”.
Debates still exist about what caused Ramirez`s toxicity, but most likely, it was the use of dimethyl sulfoxide. With sufficient oxygen, dimethyl sulfoxide turns into dimethyl sulfate - a dangerous nerve-paralyzing gas.
The theory states that the attempt to resuscitate Ramirez caused a chemical reaction and converted some of the dimethyl sulfoxide in her body into dimethyl sulfate, which became the cause of the staff`s illness.
11. 30-year-old shotgun shot
The outbreak of mass shootings in recent years shows that guns bring death, but they don`t always kill immediately. In fact, sometimes firearms can wait their turn for many years.
In one such case, a person was treated after a gunshot wound, but a small piece of shot remained in the body. For 30 years, he was able to live a normal life, but eventually, the shot reached the bloodstream, then the heart, and caused a heart attack.
12. Cobra head
At the same time that chef Peng was preparing a rare delicacy, he received a venomous cobra bite. This wouldn`t be so unusual if the chef hadn`t cut off the cobra`s head 20 minutes earlier.
Peng didn`t know that cobras, like other snakes, are capable of moving and biting after the head or body parts are severed for about an hour. Unfortunately, he couldn`t receive the antidote in time and died.
10. Death consequences near your pet
According to Dr. Carolyn Rando, cats and dogs will try to eat their owners after 45 minutes of their death if left alone with the corpse. But in one particularly horrific case, an elderly woman became disabled.
By the time she was found, her beloved dog had eaten all the exposed skin areas.
