Potatoes on a skewer

As the main ingredient, you will need small new potatoes, which are usually bought little and therefore often given away almost for free.
The second important ingredient is salted lard. The hot coals will melt the fat, and it will infuse the potatoes with flavor and aroma. But the fried lard will crunch deliciously with the potatoes.

INGREDIENTS

1 kg potatoes
300 g salted lard
salt and pepper to taste
PREPARATION

1. Wash the potatoes, they don`t need to be peeled. Cut off all eyes and trim the ends so that the potatoes fit snugly against the lard slices.
2. Cut the lard into small slices. There should be a bit more lard than potatoes.
3. Salt the trimmed ends of the potatoes.
4. Alternate lard and potatoes on the skewer. Lard should be at the edges.
5. Make cuts on each potato up to the skewer, every 5-6 mm. Then turn the skewer and make cuts on the other side.
6. Rub salt into the cut areas.
7. Grill the potato shashlik over coals, constantly rotating and checking readiness with a knife. Cooking time 15-20 minutes.
8. When the shashlik is ready, remove from the fire. Bon appétit!

Instead of lard, you can use bacon. With it, the aroma is more pleasant, but with lard, the potato flesh will be juicier.
