It`s no secret to anyone that mass media usually sets unrealistic goals for us, which are practically impossible to implement in life. The sphere of motherhood is no exception.
Once, mother of two Katie Di Vincenzo got tired of the gorgeously ideal pictures on Facebook and together with photographer Danielle Fantis created a photo project that demonstrates what a mother`s daily life looks like after the birth of a child and what postpartum depression is. In this way, the woman showed everyone the honest side of motherhood.

At one time, Katie had to go through postpartum depression; she had anxiety attacks for no reason, and she also suffered from obsessive-compulsive disorder. However, the woman realized that she wasn`t the only one experiencing such a state. That`s why Katie decided to share completely candid photos on her Facebook page.
Katie and Danielle`s joint project demonstrates to women what postpartum depression is and what it entails.
`It`s possible that you feel just as crappy as I do. Sometimes society attributes postpartum depression to mental illnesses.
The reality is that both photographs you see above demonstrate my life. I willingly show only one reality, while I have to hide the other because it`s unpleasant for someone to look at. I have to pretend every day, and it infuriates me.
You might think I`m weak, abnormal, and a terrible mother, but I`m not the only one who acts this way.
You can`t say that after the birth of a child, a woman is in seventh heaven from happiness and filled with euphoria, because in 1 out of 7 cases, it`s not like that.
When someone asks you how you`re doing, you don`t have to say everything is fine. You need to pay attention to the symptoms, identify risk factors, and create a support plan for women during such a depressive state.
If you ever experienced depression after the birth of a child, share your story below this post. In case no one has told you, you have essentially created a miracle. You are loved and valuable. But most importantly, you are not alone.`
Moreover, many celebrities have gone through such a state.
Gwyneth Paltrow: `When my son Moses came into the world in 2006, I expected to experience euphoria again, as it was after Apple`s birth. But instead, one of the heaviest, gloomiest, and most tormenting periods in my life set in. I felt like a zombie.`
Alanis Morissette: `Those were very difficult times. I felt drained, experienced indifference. I had no strength for anything… And to all who are now in such a state, I want to say: ask for help and as early as possible!`
Jennifer Lopez: `A week after the children`s birth, the first symptoms of postpartum depression appeared. I was sad, I cried a lot for no reason, it seemed to me that Max and Emme didn`t love me and would never love me. I had real paranoia.`
As you can see, there is nothing terrible about postpartum depression. A fairly large percentage of moms encounter it. It`s important to detect the problem in time so as not to bring yourself to a critical state. Share your experience and opinion on this topic in the comments.
