Nowadays, women have the same rights as men. They can vote in elections, own real estate, and express themselves in various ways. Freedom has influenced them so much that they consider themselves feminists, imagining that they are still somehow restricted.

But it hasn`t always been like that. In historical times, women had almost no rights. In the Middle Ages, they were afraid to even open their mouths. Because everyone was under the watchful eye of the Inquisition, which would gladly investigate any suspicions of witchcraft.
The fate of the suspects was harsh. They were tortured day and night in the most horrific ways to make them confess to collaborating with the devil. Today, we will tell you about the most popular methods used by the Inquisition to uncover the truth about witches.
1. `Ducking stool`

One of the most popular methods was the witch`s ducking stool. This `excellent` test was as follows: the possible witch was tied to a chair, which was periodically submerged in river water and pulled out.

The construction was cunning: a wooden beam for support, with the chair and woman tied to one side, and ropes on the other, which were pulled to submerge the body in water or pull it out.
2. `Stork`

This is a fairly simple torture device. It completely locked the victim, preventing movement. Women were locked in shackles, their legs bent, and knees pressed to the chest. In this way, the body quickly went numb, and the unfortunate one began to feel hellish pains spreading from the waist throughout the body. Often, such a test drove them mad within a couple of days.
3. `Witch`s chair`

A horrifying invention - the `witch`s chair` or `Inquisition chair`. It looked like a chair with arm irons and spikes that lightly pierced the flesh.

The woman suspected of collaborating with dark forces was seated on the chair and simultaneously tortured with heated iron or water. The most resilient lasted several days, but none survived after such torture.
4. Water torture

The Inquisition used a cunning way to force a witch to confess, called water torture. As a result, the victim felt intense pain up to choking.

Even more horrific was the method where a funnel was placed in the anus or vaginal opening. Through the funnel, insects were poured into the unfortunate ones, causing terrible pain and suffering.
5. `Pear`

If the victim showed miraculous endurance and did not want to confess to a connection with Satan, then she awaited, behold, such a `cute` toy. Due to its similarity, it was also called the pear.

It was used as follows: inserted deep into the victim`s intimate area and the key was turned. After this action, the mechanism`s petals opened and literally tore the woman apart from the inside.

There were also other torture methods that were not as cruel. However, the Inquisition never missed an opportunity to run its death machine.

What didn`t they do in ancient times, hiding behind God`s name and calling their dreadful actions just. People have always sought justification for their unimaginable actions to clear their conscience and sleep peacefully.
