We will tell you about the characteristic features of insect bites, with the help of which you can easily identify the culprit of itching, pain or poor well-being.
Reaction to insect bites
1. Ants
Red ants – the worst of the worst. No wonder they are called fire ants, because their bite is comparable to a burn with fire. At the moment of the bite, the ant injects poison with a toxin into the wound, capable of causing a strong allergic reaction. Good thing that such ants are not found in our latitudes, but it`s worth knowing about the features of this exotic insect`s bite.
We are more familiar with brown ants, whose bite resembles a mosquito bite. It can also cause itching, redness and unpleasant sensations. One insect bite does not pose a danger, but many bites can provoke an allergic reaction.
2. Fleas
The reason for close contact between humans and fleas is pets. Fleas are parasites that carry many diseases dangerous to humans. Flea bites can easily be confused with an allergic reaction or a mosquito bite. If you are attentive, you can notice that a flea leaves only one puncture at the bite site.
The bite site swells, turns red and itches unbearably. Over several days, the bite site can turn into an inflamed scar, as the victim constantly scratches the bitten area.
3. Ticks
A tick bite is not accompanied by painful sensations. A tick attached to the human body can remain unnoticed for a long time. At the bite site, a round-shaped redness appears. General symptoms after a tick bite appear only after several hours. Headaches occur, fever, elevated body temperature, weakness and sensitivity to light appear.
If the parasite is detected in time, you need to get rid of it as soon as possible. If the tick went unnoticed for a long time, you need to see a doctor immediately. Remember, ticks are parasites that carry infections dangerous to humans! The most common of them is tick-borne encephalitis.
4. Bees
Bees do not characteristically bite humans just like that, because biting costs them their life. Moreover, no one is protected from an accidental bee sting. The insect`s attack is accompanied by sharp pain and burning. At the bite site, swelling appears almost instantly, from which the bee`s stinger protrudes.
The skin turns red, rashes may appear around the injured area. In the worst case, an allergy to the insect`s venom may occur, which causes swelling of the airways, convulsions and can even lead to the victim`s death.
5. Wasps
Wasps are true predators in the insect world, they are extremely dangerous to humans. When biting a human, it can sting several times in a row, and the stinger does not break off. Unlike bees, wasps are not so wasteful with their venom, as they use it for hunting.
The bite is accompanied by sharp pain, burning and swelling. The bite sites on the face swell the most. If medical assistance is not provided in time, the allergic reaction can end fatally. Multiple wasp bites at the same time are also dangerous to human life.
6. Mosquitoes
A mosquito bite is not difficult to recognize, because most often it is accompanied by the insect`s intrusive buzzing. It seems that in summer you can`t escape these tiny pests! A mosquito bite is insignificant itching and quickly disappearing inflammation. Just try to control yourself and not scratch the bitten areas.
7. Spiders
All spiders are poisonous to some extent, because venom is a weapon that helps obtain food. So how to distinguish a simple scratch from an arachnid bite? Most often the bite is painless, but sometimes it is accompanied by a stinging sensation. At the bite site, a white spot with reddened edges appears.
After a few minutes, the symptoms may intensify, pain, cramps, swelling occur. Sharp pain in the appendix area may indicate a black widow bite. But fortunately, particularly dangerous arachnids do not live in our latitudes.
8. Bedbugs
Bedbugs seriously spoil life for many, disrupting the sleep regime, thereby reducing work capacity. If after waking up you notice many bites on your body, most likely, bedbugs have settled in your home. The main difference is that they are massive, densely placed bites. The bite marks remain for a long time, which distinguishes a bedbug bite from an allergic reaction.
As you can see, poisonous insect bites are a common phenomenon even in our latitudes. So it`s worth thinking about safe outdoor recreation today!
