Signs of cervical cancer
The disease never arises out of nowhere: before cancer, there are changes in the cervical epithelium, accompanied by certain symptoms.
1. Abnormal vaginal bleeding. Bleeding between menstrual cycles, after intercourse, after menopause onset – already a reason to be cautious and schedule an unscheduled check-up. It is an obvious sign of bodily disorders.
2. Unusual discharge. Cancer`s initial stage may be indicated by white discharge with a small amount of blood, as well as abundant watery discharge. Serous discharge with an unpleasant odor is characteristic of later stages of the disease, when the tumor begins to break down.
3. Pain in the lower abdomen. Persistent pain sensations in the pelvic area accompany many diseases, so this symptom should not be ignored. It is better to see a doctor immediately.
4. Difficulty urinating. Tumor expansion causes compression of the ureters and urination problems, and when the disease affects the bladder, there may be frequent urges.
5. Swelling and pain in the legs. Compression of lymphatic tissue leads to fluid accumulation in the legs, and cancer spread to pelvic lymph nodes may be indicated by pain in the hip area or the sacral region of the spine.
6. Weight loss. Cytokines, proteins produced by the body to fight the disease, are also capable of actively breaking down fats, causing rapid weight loss.
Important to know: cervical cancer is successfully treated, especially in early stages! The trouble is that women often do not visit a gynecologist for years, postponing the doctor`s visit until the last moment. Visit the doctor every year: protect yourself!
