British soldier Kevin Elliott, heading to Afghanistan, jokingly made a bet with his best friend Barry Delaney. Elliott insisted that if he ever died in battle, Barry would have to wear the ugliest dress he could find to his funeral. Barry of course agreed, though the bet seemed grim but at the same time funny.

While in Afghanistan, Elliott and Barry regularly kept in touch. Although they practically didn`t see each other, their friendship remained as strong as before. Fate is unpredictable and unfortunately Elliott`s prediction came true after three years.

When the time came for Elliott`s burial, Barry knew exactly what he had to do. He poured a glass of his friend`s favorite drink and raised a toast to the fallen hero. Barry put on the funniest dress he could find, and complemented it with long, pink socks.

Undeniably, such an outfit didn`t fit into a funeral ceremony, but only at first glance, because with this action he reflected true friendship with the fallen soldier. All those present were informed about Barry`s action to avoid misunderstandings, as he was fulfilling his promise. The onlookers viewed the event with a deep sense of sympathy, as a friend had been lost.
