In 1938, Tom and Jean Chittami moved to Sydney and settled into their first and only home. Here they raised their children and witnessed the birth of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Upon entering this house, real estate agents and buyers were shocked: time seemed to have stopped in 1938, since then Tom and Jean had changed nothing, only doing cosmetic repairs. Furniture, carpets, household appliances, wall finishes – everything remained unchanged. What surprised visitors the most was the perfect order and ideal condition of the house.
The old house interior
The thing is, Jean was very sickly and fragile even in her youth, so Tom took on all the household chores. Even before leaving the home forever, he habitually mowed the lawn.
Due to its unusual interior, the house was sold for a fabulous amount – 1.5 million dollars. Local residents, learning about the sale of this wonderful house where time stood still, wanted to see this fairy-tale place. The kind-hearted elderly couple was delighted with such interest and attention, so they did not hinder visits to their home.
