The Napoleon cake is deservedly a favorite dessert of many of our compatriots. Unsweetened puff pastry layers soaked in boiled, cream, or butter cream won`t leave anyone indifferent. There are many variations of this dessert: in France, it`s called `Mille-feuille` (which translates to 1,000 layers), in England - `Vanilla Slice`.
To enjoy this exquisite treat, there`s no need to go to England or France. It`s enough to know a few main tricks for making the cake!
Continuation of the article
First, choose good high-quality flour. Sift it several times to give the dough airiness. For the same purpose, experienced housewives choose butter (or margarine) with high fat content.
Prepare the dough in a cool room, otherwise the dough may spread. And that`s it, you can safely start making homemade Napoleon with condensed milk.
Crispy Napoleon
Ingredients for the dough
• 450 g flour
• 270 g chilled butter
• 170 ml water
• 20 ml vinegar
• 1/4 tsp salt
Ingredients for the cream
• 400 g soft butter
• 400 g condensed milk
Preparation
1. First, prepare the dough. Sift the flour, add salt and cubed chilled butter. Rub the mixture with your hands until uniform consistency.
2. Combine water with vinegar, then pour the liquid into the bowl with flour and butter. Knead into a uniform dough.
3. Shape the finished dough into a ball and place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
4. After the specified time, remove the dough from the refrigerator and roll out into a square sheet no thinner than 1 cm. Then fold the dough like an envelope, roll out into a large sheet, fold again (repeat the process at least 4 times). After all manipulations, put the dough in the refrigerator for an hour.
5. When the dough is ready, you can start rolling out the layers. Divide the dough ball into several equal parts (depending on how many layers you plan to bake).
6. Thinly roll out each dough layer until transparent and be sure to prick with a fork. Bake the layers at 200 degrees until they become golden.
7. Time to make the sweet cream. Whip the butter with a mixer. Add the condensed milk and whip again.
8. Spread each layer of the future cake with a thin layer of cream, actually just enough to bind the layers.
Bon appétit to you and your loved ones! Don`t forget to share this recipe with other lovers of condensed milk and delicious cakes!
