If you`re tired of constantly going to the store and throwing spoiled products in the trash, this article is for you! For example, did you know you can make vacuum packaging yourself? Check out the article and see how to do it.
We`ve selected the best storage methods, and not everyone knows about them.
Continuation of the article
1. Make a vacuum storage package
Put the meat in the package without sealing it completely and carefully submerge it in water, allowing the air to slowly escape. Then seal the package and put it in the freezer.
2. Don`t store bread in the refrigerator
In the refrigerator, bread will dry out much faster due to starch crystallization. Good news: bread can be frozen. Cut the bread and put it in a plastic bag. This way, the starch won`t crystallize, and the bread will last much longer.
3. Before putting greens in a container, wrap them in a towel
If you want to keep greens fresh for as long as possible, before putting them in the refrigerator, loosely wrap them in a kitchen towel to absorb all the moisture.
4. Don`t store eggs in the refrigerator door
The refrigerator door has a built-in shelf for eggs, but it`s not the best place for long-term storage. The door is the warmest area, and eggs don`t like the temperature fluctuations when opening and closing the door. Therefore, store the product in its store packaging, as deep in the refrigerator as possible.
5. Store asparagus and other greens like a bouquet
Asparagus and other herbs, such as basil, mint, sage, will store wonderfully in a container with a small amount of water. Don`t wash such a ”bouquet” beforehand, only before use.
6. Before putting fresh strawberries in the refrigerator, soak them in vinegar water
Vinegar will rid the berries of harmful microbes and mold. Rinse the berries under running water. Then mix vinegar with water (1:10), and leave the strawberries in it for a short time. Then rinse again under running water and dry thoroughly.
7. Store ginger in the freezer
Grate the ginger and put it in the freezer, remembering to package it hermetically first. This way, you`ll extend its life, and all the good properties will be preserved.
8. Don`t store mushrooms in plastic bags
Mushrooms spoil from moisture in plastic, so a paper bag that absorbs excess moisture is the ideal option for fresh mushrooms. The main thing is not to store them fresh for too long.
9. To keep cookies from becoming dry and hard, add an apple to them
An interesting way to keep cookies fresh: place a piece of apple in the container with the cookies, and they will stay soft for much longer. If you think you`ve overdone it and the cookies have become too moist, remove the apple and add a piece of bread, which will absorb the excess moisture.
