A disturbing story, isn`t it? Let`s continue. You run up to him to check if everything is okay. He brushes it off, says everything is fine, he just tripped. For some reason, you believe him, even though there`s no stone nearby that his foot could have caught on. You each go your separate ways. In the evening, this man dies from a stroke.
But all that was needed was to recognize the first signs of this terrible misfortune, which affects both old and young. The whole problem is that you need to know these signs. And convince the person to undergo a few simple tests. Like it or not, in this case, the stake is a person`s life.
Stroke symptoms and signs

A stroke only seems unexpected. There will always be one or more stroke symptoms that signal to the body that trouble is imminent. It`s just that a person who isn`t used to listening to themselves might not notice it.
If you have elderly relatives, the following information will be very important. Read and memorize these four signs by which you can determine if a person will have a stroke and if they need medical help.
1. Ask the person you suspect is in a pre-stroke condition to smile widely. Sometimes this can be difficult, requiring persuasion or tricks, for example, `Smile at a beautiful woman.` It`s definitely worth it! A person with a stroke won`t be able to smile or will manage a crooked smile with great effort.

2. Ask the person who just fell because they supposedly tripped to say a long, understandable phrase. It doesn`t have to be complicated, the main thing is that it`s longer than three words. For example: `My own feet got tangled and I fell, but now I`m fine.` A person in a pre-stroke state won`t be able to say a long phrase understandably.
3. Ask the person who feels strange to raise their hands above their head. If they are about to have a stroke, they won`t be able to perform such a simple action, or if they do, only partially.

4. Ask the person who has become unwell to stick out their tongue. Sometimes you have to stick out your tongue first – many people are shy and feel awkward. In a person suffering from a stroke, the tongue will be crooked.
If you notice even one of these signs in an elderly person, urgently take them to the hospital. Call an ambulance, inform the medics about the situation that has arisen. They know exactly what to do.
There are a couple of signs that people notice even before their condition significantly worsens. These include numbness in the fingers or the entire hand or leg, dizziness, headaches, severe nausea, sudden loss of vision in one or both eyes.
The result of your insistence could be saving a loved one`s life. Or a stranger`s. What difference does it make, if a human life is priceless.
