Human desires and needs have changed significantly over the last century. We have become accustomed not only to a wide range of products, but also services, and their quality is constantly improving. With the invention of the internet and its integration into our daily lives, we can buy many things without even leaving home. This is, of course, very convenient: you choose a website that offers the desired product or service, make the payment, and very soon it is delivered right to your doorstep. This field has also not been without scammers and false promises. There are many websites that offer beautiful products or services, showing them in attractive images, but when we receive the real end result, we are, to put it mildly, disappointed. Today’s photo collection is about this experience and other unmet expectations.

“Once I had a dream to build an Eskimo house—an igloo. Seven hours of work with a snow shovel, but the result did not please me; the only consolation was that I tried to realize my dream of a snow house.”
For building an igloo, the snow composition is important; wet snow is not suitable, it must be taken from compacted snowdrifts.
“From the picture I thought I would receive a glove you can put on your hand, but in reality I got a picture.”
“I wanted to bake a human skull-shaped cake, but I ended up with a burnt mummy.”
The unexpected tourism “surprise”
This mountain in New Zealand is a popular tourist attraction. In photos it looks impressive, but in reality you have to wait in line to get a great picture.
“My mother-in-law really wanted this Christmas tree when she saw its pictures in the online store. Reality was disappointing.”
This is how the cake looked in the seller’s pictures. It looks great—why not order one like that?
When the package arrived, the beautiful cake images were literally printed on a plain cake, with no sign of the nice decoration.
“I wanted to surprise my mom on her 45th birthday with a lush bouquet that I saw in an online flower shop... but...”
“...the received flowers looked completely different.”
“After some time the flowers did bloom, and the result wasn’t as bad as the first impressions.”
A Christmas tree decoration depicting Batman’s house and the superheroes inside it.
The received decoration looked like a piece of plastic melted in the sun—still fun to unpack, although the result is not very pretty.
“I wanted thick and beautiful hair, but the result at the hairdresser disappointed me. What should I do with it now?”
“It seemed this would last me a long time, but in reality there was very little inside the bottle...”
Pizza delivery company photos look tasty and beautiful, but the received orders look inedible.
“Moving to hot Florida, I ordered a large wide-brim hat, which ended up looking like a sack.”
No problem, it can be used to scare the neighbors in the evenings.
“Sandwiches with salmon. It seems like it will be delicious, but...”
Consumers are often misled like this, while in reality they do not receive what they wanted.
“Trying to imitate Superman, I ended up with something similar to Mr. Bean!”
“Real vampire blood,” although instead of red it is just a transparent liquid.
