Not all secrets can we entrust even to our closest ones. Most people are ashamed to admit they have problems: depression, relationships with abuse, large debts, or nervous disorders. But an attentive friend can notice without being told that something bad is happening in the life of a dear person.

We understand that there are no universal problems, so there are no universal signs either. However, some warning signs can indicate that something unpleasant is happening in the life of someone close to you.

Abusive relationships

• A woman suddenly gains weight or, on the contrary, loses it. This can happen because she is constantly in a stressful situation.

• A person in an abusive relationship may suddenly quit their job or studies. This way, the partner tries to limit their freedom of action.

• Abusive people like to covertly humiliate their victims and often do so with the help of jokes. For example, the phrase `My little fatty` may not be an innocent comment at all.

• Another sign is constant phone use. For example, a woman goes out for a walk with friends and doesn`t let go of her phone. A message arrives, and she immediately starts replying, but when a call comes in, she gets very nervous and calls back right away. It`s possible that her partner is controlling her.

• Sudden pickiness in food may occur. This is especially noticeable in teenagers. If your child unexpectedly decides to become a vegetarian or refuses their favorite pizza, it`s worth observing the young person more closely.

• A person suffering from an eating disorder may avoid shared gatherings in a cafe or at home in the kitchen. But during meals, they often push food around the plate, spread pieces to the sides, and sometimes give part of their portion to someone sitting nearby. Often, situations arise where food from the table ends up in the pet`s bowl.

• Such people love to cook and do it with pleasure, but they themselves, as usual, do not eat. The treats are left for family members.

Depression

• There is a concept - `smiling depression`. When a person is in public, they look healthy and happy, constantly smile, and generally behave as usual. To understand that something is wrong, you can only if you observe this person closely: pretending artificial happiness is quite difficult, and the mask of satisfaction may periodically slip.

• Ordinary difficulties cause excessive emotions in a person with depression. This happens because a depressed person does not live but tries to survive the day. The more problems, even the smallest, the more despair they cause.

• Problems with concentration and memory arise. It becomes difficult for the person to make decisions.

• Depression affects sleep quality, and the person may complain of constantly wanting to sleep, not sleeping at night, sleeping too much or, conversely, too little.

• Slowness appears: the walking pace slows down, preparation to go somewhere takes longer, the person is late for various meetings.

At risk are those people who recently experienced something that could affect their budget. For example, a wedding, the birth of a child, prolonged illness, or job loss.

• If money problems are severe, the person sharply changes financial habits: reduces expenses or, conversely, increases them.

• The person avoids conversations about money, even others`. If in a group someone starts talking about investments or buying an apartment, this person immediately loses interest in the conversation.
