Cinema has long entered our lives as something completely ordinary. We all love to spend a couple of hours enjoying a good movie from time to time. Many prefer series, but not everyone has that much time.

And sometimes, in terms of meaning and emotional tension, movies are no worse than books, although this is the exception rather than the rule. Nevertheless, these exceptions greatly influence us.

Continuation of the article
`Avatar`

Let`s start with the movie that has the highest box office earnings, surpassing the twelve-year-old record of `Titanic.` James Cameron managed to create a film that impresses not only with its incredible visuals but also carries a deep meaning.

Through the beauty of Pandora`s world and stunning views, it prompts reflections on humanity`s place in nature and the question of whether humans are truly its crown and master or just a small part of something global.
`Fight Club`

An excellent adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk`s novel that condemns materialistic society. The film and book show the emptiness of modern values, widespread consumer attitudes, and the existence of any meaning in life for most people.

All this complex philosophy is played out by the brilliant duo of Brad Pitt and Edward Norton, directed by David Fincher. Such a list of names cannot leave indifferent those even remotely familiar with world cinema.
`The Matrix`

One of the cult films in history. Back then, the Wachowski brothers` creation, who made a genius trilogy, still haunts people`s minds. On the surface, it seems like a simple action film, but it hides a truly deep meaning that you understand after the second or third viewing.

Is our world real? If not, what does reality look like? And if it`s much worse and more terrible, what would you choose: to live happily in ignorance or to live for real, even in a terrible but true world? These and many other questions arise while watching the film, and none have answers.
`Revolver`

A completely atypical Guy Ritchie film that is still discussed and can`t be stopped. The director didn`t use his signature techniques in creating this film, as it surprises everyone familiar with his previous and subsequent works. The film features a great Jason Statham, who wasn`t yet spouting quotes left and right.

Despite ongoing debates, most agree that the film is full of ideas and meaning, but each person draws something personal from it. Something only they see. Some see a desire to free oneself from chains, while others see a cautionary tale about sin. Therefore, the film must be watched.
`Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas`

Another favorite film based on Hunter S. Thompson`s book. It`s a two-hour psychological film in the company of Johnny Depp and Benicio del Toro, who, constantly under the influence of substances, demonstrate the interaction between humans and chaotic reality.

In fact, despite the abundance of drugs and other excesses, the film is about the search for the American dream. A film about the lost generation of the 60s, about people living on the sidelines after those times and refusing to accept reality. Drugs help them do that.
`I Origins`

A little-known film by little-known director Mike Cahill that occupies the soul for a long time. Despite its simplicity, the film raises truly global questions. For example, about the eternal conflict between religion and science, about rationalism and blind faith, and ultimately even touches on the theme of soul reincarnation.

The most interesting thing is that the film is truly banal, banal characters, banal plot, but behind this mask hides something that can touch our souls. The film is captivating, leaves a strong aftertaste, and many questions.
`Her`

And suddenly, Spike Jonze`s fantastic melodrama appears on our list, which can be called the most tender and sensual film in history. The story of the romantic relationship between Joaquin Phoenix`s character and an artificial intelligence named Samantha.

Samantha has no body, only a voice, but that doesn`t stop the authors from showing genuine love in a world where nothing real remains. The film leaves a huge space for reflection on what love is and how it can manifest.
`The Truman Show`

One of the best films with Jim Carrey, which only an emotionless person wouldn`t cry while watching. The story is very reminiscent of `The Matrix` plot, but without robots, survival, and other attributes.

The main character lives his life in a small town and begins to suspect that everything around is unreal.

A film about a person trapped in a cage for the amusement of everyone else, unaware of it. And when he starts to suspect, he`s willing to lose everything to gain freedom. Again, the choice of personal reality, but here it touches the soul deeply.
`American Beauty`

The first arthouse film to win an Oscar, mainly thanks to the genius of Kevin Spacey and screenwriter Alan Ball. The script was reworked multiple times, so the film is saturated with meaning, done masterfully with love and beauty.

Before us is a kind of 60s American society with all its problems and flaws. Honestly, one could talk about the film endlessly, but to fully find and understand all the ideas embedded in it, you need to watch it multiple times.
`Mr. Nobody`

One of the few films that poses many questions to viewers but provides no answers. According to the film`s authors, that was the main idea. The lead role is played by Jared Leto, who, as a 118-year-old man on the brink of death in a society of immortals, tells about his life.

Lives, to be precise, as plots replace each other, completely confusing the viewer. But the meaning of what`s happening is very simple: until a choice is made, many possibilities exist.
`The Fountain`

It would be hard to do without Darren Aronofsky in this list. One of his most complex works – `The Fountain` – is, of course, also one of the most ambiguous. It seems the director couldn`t overcome the bar he set for himself.

Moreover, the film is a heavy work about life, death, and love. The film is accused of banal meaning, but if you think about it, life and love are also banal. The film has a main idea – about the end of life and immortal love.
Now you just need to plan a schedule to watch what hasn`t been seen and rewatch the remaining films from a different perspective.

Watching such films one after another, after each one you need to find time to think, return to reality, and draw conclusions. Therefore, your evenings will be occupied for the next 11 weeks or 11 months.
