1. Refusing castration and sterilization

In most cases, these procedures positively affect the pet`s body. For cats, the risk of breast cancer decreases, and for male cats - cases of testicular cancer. In addition, neutered cats do not run away from home and rarely show aggression.

2. Bathing the pet

Even dogs get nervous when bathed. Cats practically do not need bathing: they regularly wash and clean their fur. If the animal is heavily soiled, you can wipe it with a soft damp towel. In rare cases when bathing is really necessary, try to wash only the soiled area, not the entire animal.

3. Using only dry food

Dry food is just a snack. It cannot satisfy hunger. The diet must also include wet food, which should be given several times a day in small portions. However, you should not give up dry food, as the cat needs to eat during the day.

4. Not calling a veterinarian

Even indoor cats that have never gone outside need to be vaccinated. Keeping an animal within four walls in no way guarantees that the furry pet will not get sick with anything. Every six months, the cat should be shown to a veterinarian and vaccinated.

5. Leaving plants where the cat can reach them

Some houseplants are toxic to pets. Since cats like to taste flowers, make sure that the varieties of your home flora are safe for your fauna representative. Among the most toxic plants for cats are azaleas, daffodils, aloe, begonias, callas, and ficuses.

7. Buying a cat for a small child

Children should not be left alone with cats. A child can injure the animal. In addition, loud and sharp sounds scare cats, and they can become aggressive. If a kitten appears in the family, always be nearby while children play with it.

8. Ignoring the cat`s privacy

Just as a person needs personal space, a cat also needs a place where it feels comfortable and safe. Animals should have such a place even in your home, where the pet can hide and sleep peacefully.

9. Giving milk

A kitten needs mother`s milk. If for some reason this is not possible, special mixtures from a veterinary pharmacy, goat`s milk, and 10-percent cream are acceptable. However, during adolescence, the body undergoes changes, animals produce less of the enzyme needed for full milk digestion, and adult cats may also have lactose intolerance.

10. Declawing

In many countries, declawing is already banned as inhumane. During the operation, not only the claws are removed from animals, but an entire phalanx of the finger is amputated. Later, the cat will experience severe pain in its paws when moving.
